Bread and Roses (2000) by Ken Loach, I don't know, guess I have some mix feelings about it.
I think that the theme of the film is very powerfull 'cause it's from the perspective of the inmigrants, that's something you dont seen every day, specially in a movie placed in LA.
The message of the struggle of janitors is very inspiring, but I think that the style of the movie hinde the impact that could have achieved in the audience.
It is not that the movie is slow or something, is just that it don't has a style according to the theme. While I was watching the movie I had a feeling that was more like a TV novel than a movie, let me put an example, in 1999 the chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou made a movie based on the actual China, based on the works of the children that left elementary school to go to the big citys to become a work force. That had a "documentary" point of view, like the italian neorrealism of the 40's and 50's.
The message was inspiring, the way it was made, not so much.
Until next time.
